Meet the founders – ANRE

1- Can you briefly explain what your solution is all about? What’s unique about it?

ANRE is a deep-tech solution – a special resolver based on permanent gra- & levitational forces supplied by a European international team.

Based on the physical law of inertia and with a rotatable mass we can explain how mass can be charged with our torque solution to store kinetic energy without thermodynamic restrictions or producing CO2.

We have the know-how to generate from gra- & levitational forces a torque source out of specially shaped permanent magnets and produce a static moment all over 360° on a shaft. Our solution can be built very compactly. We can describe these two technical and physical processes by drawings.

2- What’s the story behind your company? How was the idea for this business born?

Curiosity – I did not understand why it is not possible to build out of known existing forces a simple torque source.

I have installed a large photovoltaic-electricity source on the roof of my house to cover the consumption peak demand. While reflecting on this issue, I wondered if a small permanent energy source could also be enough to cover my total energy consumption via small battery storage and a DC-AC converter to cover my peaks.

My CO2 footprint is already CO2 neutral, but what about all the people that do not have the possibility to install photovoltaics?

The battery-electric solutions market is rising steadily and fast and a lot of people think it should be possible to build an energy source out of gravity – but why does it not exist on the market yet?

My curiosity ended up now with ANRE – the analogue resolver – the counterpart of the digital resolver and better known as the electric motor.

We have a huge market and I think it is best to start with space applications to acknowledge the technology.

3-Which is the challenge that your solution tackles, and how do you set apart from the other companies with similar solutions?

I´m using the combination of gra- & levitation forces. This difference makes a very high force density in a small space ratio possible. To the best of my knowledge, the only known other company in this market is Inductance Energy from the USA. They are using the gravity slingshot effect and their assembly is big and heavy

It was a very strategic decision from the very beginning. I was not interested in what other people try or have tried until now. My goal was to find the very best solution by making the highest torque possible out of gra- &  levitational forces. I started with pen and paper thinking about how it could be solved. I made small experiments and improved the results iteratively – a mistake is a chance to improve!

4- What are your goals, and what’s the biggest challenge you are trying to overcome at this moment?

My goal is to substitute all-new thermodynamic processes within a decade! It is incredibly ambitious, but if I manage to enter the electric car market and cars’ supply energy grid during parking instead of loading the car battery, we can substitute all thermodynamic processes producing electricity with this technology in 10 years only by regularly selling new cars and without additional burden for the consumers.

A POC (Proof of Concept) in theory and/or practice based on 2 observations (from my experiments with gra- & levitation) described in technical drawings combined as one assembly. Everything is related to this issue! It’s like the invention of the Diesel engine. It was physically quite easy to understand but hardly impossible to believe that it could be manufactured and made a reality in that time – but in the end, it was possible and a big improvement was brought for the thermodynamic process and mankind of that time!

Academics are afraid to get in touch with this issue to write a theoretical POC under ideal conditions – it is hardly impossible to find somebody for this approach.

Shaping magnets in a proper way for a high-quality practical POC is not that easy, this is more or less only a financial problem from my point of view at the moment.

5- What advice would you give to an entrepreneur trying to pave his/her way in the space sector landscape?

Never give up! Try to improve your explanation and learn from each mistake! If the idea is useful for space applications, you could build and sell the first products under NDA restrictions.

6- About SUN, why did you apply?

It’s a European-funded program on an international level for early-stage innovations and space relations. I try to improve ANRE for other funding.

Involved mentors have experience within the European funding landscape. Until now I learned a lot from the SUN mentors and benefited out of this program for sure!
