Meet the founders – Réaltra Space

1- Can you briefly explain what your solution is all about? What’s unique about it?

Réaltra is an Irish space engineering company dedicated to the development and delivery of cost-effective leading-edge electronic systems for space applications.

2- What’s the story behind your company? How was the idea for this business born?

Réaltra was born out of two companies. An Irish company, Acra was acquired by Curtiss Wright and Diarmuid Corry (founder of Acra) and Danny Gleeson decided to leave and together with Paddy White (CEO of Realtime Technologies) set up Réaltra.

3-Which is the challenge that your solution tackles, and how do you set apart from the other companies with similar solutions?

We provide a full end-to-end telemetry solution that is flexible and easy to change and configure for customer requirements.

There is no competitor that can provide these full, autonomous telemetry systems. Being a small company we are very agile and innovative and can react and develop solutions faster than large companies.

4- What are your goals, and what’s the biggest challenge you are trying to overcome at this moment?

To Réaltra into the leading supplier of space systems that reduce the cost of space electronics through the use of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf and bespoke products while constantly researching cutting-edge technologies to lower cost, lower risk, and increase performance. The challenge is obtaining the financial investment to expand and to find experienced space systems engineering resources.

5- What advice would you give to an entrepreneur trying to pave his/her way in the space sector landscape?

Talk to as many people as possible and learn to form their experiences. Need to understand the politics of ESA and the national agencies and develop a good relationship with the national delegates.

6- About SUN, why did you apply?

We applied to get advice from experienced experts and to make good contacts in the European space ecosystem. We have learned a huge amount from the webinars and mentoring sessions.
